The creation of the Galter HealthSmart Library (HSL) brings health information closer and faster to the user. The HSL is a series of tools that customize and personalize access to information. For example, when users come to the Galter HSL they can immediately click on their customized web page that pre-selects health information for them based on a completed user profile. This information includes current awareness citations with links to full-text, preferred e-journals, e-books and web sites, and links to other tools. These tools include: a metasearch engine that uses keywords to identify location and source of health information stored in the local library's collection; easy-to-use selection features to further personalize an individual HSL; and a personal filing cabinet for quick storage of electronic health information.
